“ If anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless he competes to the rules.” (2 Timothy 2:5, NIV)

-Our Mission
Empowering men through athletic excellence while cultivating Christ-centered relationships that positively influence others on and off the court.

-2024 Rules & Regulations
Based on the official Olympic basketball rules, here are the Basketball League rules
1) Jersey Numbers: Players are allowed to wear jersey numbers 0-99, and the numbers must be permanent and at least 6 inches high. Jerseys will be provided for each game, for each team and returned at the end of the each game.
2) Roster Size: Teams must have a minimum of four players on the court to play, and rosters must have a minimum of five players and a maximum of eight players
3) Player Limit: Teams are limited to a maximum of 8 players to ensure the flow of the game and prevent injuries.
4) Game Equipment: Each team is required to provide an official men’s sized (29 inch) basketball for each game, and the home team provides the game ball.
5) Forfeiture: Games played without a roster will be forfeited, and teams failing to appear with four players at game time shall forfeit the game.
6) Player Conduct: The league does not tolerate displays of anger, threatening comments or actions, foul language, or words/gestures meant to provoke or threaten other players. This may result in ejection of player according to designated game officials or Cross League manager's discretion.
7) Fouls and Ejections: A player fouls out on 5 personal fouls, and if a player is ejected, they must sit out the next game.
8) Team Manager's Role: Each team must designate a team manager responsible for all interaction with the officials.
9)  Warm-up: No warm-up basketballs will be provided, and dunking is permitted during games only.
10) Eligibility: Players must participate in at least two regular-season games to be eligible for the playoffs, and only managers are allowed to make changes to the team roster.

These rules cover aspects such as player eligibility, conduct, equipment, and game management, providing a framework for a fair and safe men's basketball league. Other rules include the following:
•Teams must win by only one point.
•Players must be able to excel in all phases of the game, including dribbling, shooting, rebounding, and defense.
•On defensive rebounds or steals, players must return the ball by dribble or pass across the three-point line before a basket may be attempted.
•After a basket has been scored or a foul called, a player must put the ball in play from a line past the three-point line above the foul key.
•A foul called in the act of shooting will result in either two or three free throws awarded to the team, which was fouled, depending on the situation
•If the score is tied after 20 minutes, overtime will be played

THE GAME FORMAT
NCAA rules apply with the following exceptions:
1) Three minutes before the game, each team will pray together at half court and be led by the game administrator or home team captain in a focus on the league priorities: great fellowship and competition in an atmosphere of respect and encouragement.
2) There will be no shot clock used.
3) Each game will consist of two 10-minute running clock halves with a 3-minute halftime break.
4) The clock will stop for player injuries and timeouts (two 60-second timeouts per team/per game).
5) If the score difference is 20 points or less, the clock will stop during the last 2 minutes of the game on the official’s whistle.  The clock will NOT stop after made shots unless there is an official’s whistle.
6) Free Throws – 1 and 1 will be shot after the 7th team foul.  Two shots will be awarded after 10 team fouls.
7) If necessary, a 2-minute overtime will be played. The clock will stop as in Rule #7 during the 2-minute overtime. During the overtime, no extra timeouts are given. If the game remains tied at the end of this overtime, a sudden-death overtime will be played (first team to score wins).
8) Teams must have at least 4 players to begin a game.  Only players registered for a specific team may play on that team. The scheduled game time is forfeit time if a team does not have enough players ready to play.  A team may pick up a player registered on another team and play the game.  However, that will cause the game to be a forfeit.  Game scores for a forfeit will be posted as 15-0.
9) Every team must attend a post-game “112” devotion with the team they played.  Game report forms on the back of the devo must be turned in to the Front Desk staff before leaving the gym.  Teams not doing this devo will receive a “0” as their official game score.  This time will be held in the 3A Loft.

PLAYER SUBSTITUTIONS
1) For substitutions each player must check in at the scorer’s table. The referee will signal for subs to enter the game at the next dead ball.  Due to the running clock, quick substitutions allow for more playing time.
2) The clock will stop for injuries to allow for proper care and substitutions.  If the clock stops for an injured player, that player must come out of the game and can return on the next dead ball.
3) CrossLeague does not govern playing time.  That is the responsibility of the team captain.

PLAYER CONDUCT
We have the following expectations for everyone involved in sports leagues with CrossingPoint Church
1) CrossLeague Basketball promotes respect for every player, coach, and official. No negative criticism is allowed.
2) Any comments concerning officials’ or coaches’ conduct should be addressed quietly to the game administrator. He/she is the only avenue for resolution of conflict.
3) Technical Fouls relating to conduct will result in player suspension from the rest of the current game and the next game and must be reported to the CrossLeague Director of Basketball.  A second technical by the same player will result in a suspension from the rest of the season and possibly the next season.
4) No protests or appeals of games or technical fouls are allowed.
